 I've got the same "problem"! And I know what it is triggered by - at least
 for me:
 Changing the status to "Invisible" sets the privacy settings to "Only
 allow the users below to contact me..." Resetting the status resets the
 privacy settings, too.

 I don't like this behaviour, and I've even thought it was a bug for some
 time. I don't like Pidgin to change my privacy settings when I go
 invisible... is there any possibility to stop Pidgin doing so?
