 Right, I'd like to set a preference to always start hidden regardless of
 the last state when exited.

 In the past, Pidgin (gaim) wouldn't start hidden as often as I'd like.
 Either that functionality wasn't in the older version, or I had the buddy
 list open when exiting more often than I realized, or there was an issue
 when synch'ing my desktop & laptop. Regardless, the "start hidden always"
 feature was important enough for me to look for a solution that I found in
 the Extended Preferences plugin, so I thought it was worth requesting to
 put it in the core preferences.

 If it's rarely requested, then having to install a plugin to get the
 functionality seems reasonable to me.
