 Hi,

 Yes, I am fully aware of what you posted before I opened this feature
 request. All I am really asking for is for the "+" (expand) icon to show
 persistently. Just to be clear, I am not asking to remove the default IM
 selection method that Pidgin does which is great for most cases. I have
 both friends and coworkers both local and remote (all over the world) that
 have multiple IM accounts over multiple computers. Sometimes they have
 computers that are in different rooms and they sometimes jump from one
 computer to another that their status doesn't update immediately for
 pidgin to select by default. They also tell me that some IMs don't let you
 log in with the same account on different computers. So when I go
 searching for them, I have to "ping" each of their IMs and wait for their
 response to see which IM they are using and consequently which computer it
 is. Other times, I know which computer they are on and use that IM
 instead.

 I understand my case is rather unique and probably rare. In Pidgin, I have
 other ways to solve my problem one of which is to not merge buddies, but,
 the merging of buddies  really makes my contact window look very organized
 and easy to use. The other alternative is to use the "send to" menu item
 in the conversation window, but this is rather not very intuitive and I am
 more used to initiating conversation via the buddy list (main) window. I
 suppose if this feature request is denied, I can always retrain myself to
 look at the "Send To" menu item to see if there is more than one IM method
 for the buddy.

 I only ask for a more intuitive way which is to always show the expand all
 "+" symbol next to the buddy's name for merged buddies for cases/scenarios
 that the default handling of Pidgin does not fit. I would understand if
 this request is denied for reasons of complexity or further confusion by
 other users. But if this is really not a big deal, please consider it.
