 skliarieh: GTalk uses a different method for file transfers. Pidgin does
 not detect that the receiver is using the GTalk client, so as far as it
 knows, the other side never responds. The GTalk client does detect that
 the receiver is not using a GTalk client, hence the message that you are
 getting in the second instance.

 This is a GTalk specific issue so it's probably not relevant to this
 ticket. From a quick search, #3975 seems to match the issue that you
 encountered.
