 It looks very likely that this problem is elsewhere.

 A `g_strdup()` of the account's password is something that shouldn't ever
 fail unless there is some sort of corruption going on.

 I'd look at what are you are doing to the account in
 `ops->report_disconnect`, `ops->report_disconnect_reason` and in the
 `"connection-error"` signal handler as a start.
