 You may close this ticket at your nearest convenience.
 I completely uninstalled Pidgin, rebooted, re-installed, and rebooted.
 I then tried to introduce the smileys I had to no avail.
 I then deleted the NG_Smileys directory and re-unzipped them from the
 archive I had and when I went into Preferences -> Smileys, it was now
 seen.

 Solar Flares?
