 I am having a similar problem.  I cannot connect to Yahoo since
 12-11-2007.  I was using pidgin 2.0.0.  I upgraded to 2.3.1, and still
 have the same problem.  When I attempt to login to Yahoo!, I get a popup
 box with this message:  "Invalid proxy settings Either the host name or
 port number specified for your given proxy type is invalid."  I'm not
 using, nor have I ever used, a proxy with pidgin.  I can login using their
 web client.  Here is my debug log:
