 Subscribing too, this bug is really annoying.
 I can't get a avatar in my gtalk account without having to first go into
 GTalk for windows, set the avatar, and then come back. No matter how much
 I tried, all the image files I tried downsizing in Gimp were "too large"
 for XMPP.
 Right now, I attempted to use a 75x75 jpg file of 1,75KB, and it's still
 "too large". In Gimp, I saved the image as png with compression=9, and the
 resulting file has 9,7KB. (it's the one I just attached)
 Hoping to see this fixed soon.
