 Sounds do not work for me in Pidgin - no other programs seem to have any
 issues with sounds, and, in fact, if I open the preferences dialog, I can
 use the "Test" button and everything works fun, but when I actually get or
 send a message or a buddy signs in or out, there's no sound.  I'm using
 2.3.0 now and will upgrade to 2.3.1 shortly, and I believe that this
 problem existed for a while before 2.3.0, but not in 2.0.0 certainly - it
 cropped up sometime since mid-August.
