 If you don't want to use Pidgin, that's your business and it doesn't
 really affect me.

 If I were in your situation, I would want my entire .purple directory to
 travel with me so that I would retain buddy aliases, contact grouping,
 preferences (both from Pidgin and third-party plugins), etc. If you just
 move the logs folder, you still have to manually copy that data, or it
 won't follow you and you'll have to change it on each computer.
