 The first issue I see with blanket applying the GPL here is, what is the
 "source" of an image?  Is it an SVG?  Is it whatever the "author" (artist)
 produced and gave us?

 The second issue, which applies to any license that we would try to
 blanket-apply, is we don't require assigned copyright, so we have no
 rights over the images.  We would need to contact each person who has put
 images on the SpreadPidginAvatars page and get licensing information from
 them.
