#1990: msimprpl 0.8 crashes when logging in on Windows
-----------------------+----------------------------------------------------
Reporter: jeff | Owner: jeff
Type: defect | Status: new
Priority: minor | Milestone: 3.0.0
Component: libpurple | Version: 2.0.2
Keywords: msimprpl | Pending: 0
-----------------------+----------------------------------------------------
Steps to reproduce:
* Install msimprpl 0.8 Win32 binary (extract DLL into 'plugins'
directory) from http://msimprpl.darkthoughts.net/
* In Add account, select MySpaceIM and enter screen name a, password a.
Login.
Pidgin crashes with varying errors. One case:
{{{
Unspecified fatal error encountered, aborting.
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Error
Runtime Error!
Program: C:\Program Files\Pidgin\pidgin.exe
The application has requested the Runtime to terminate in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.
}}}
In another instance, the "MySpaceIM Error" dialog pops up, but is white
and unrendered. "Pidgin has encountered a problem and needs to close. We
are sorry for the inconvenience. [...]
Or, msimprpl sometimes correctly fails to login, status bar shows that a
has been disconnected (a disconnected: Server has disconnected). But some
time after, Pidgin encounters a problem and needs to close.
Fourthly, msimprpl can pop up an unrendered "MySpaceIM Error" dialog, and
hang with 100% CPU usage. No crash.
Fifth, msimprpl can popup the same "MySpaceIM Error", this time
successfully displaying error code 260, failed to login. Crashes later.
Most common is the frozen MySpaceIM Error with a crash, followed by the
frozen MySpaceIM Error with 100% CPU.
