#2019: allow config files in ~/.purple to be symlinks
-----------------------------+----------------------------------------------

if any of the config files in ~/.purple are symlinks, pidgin replaces them
with normal files when it writes to them. is this an intentional design
decision? any chance we could change this to allow symlinks for config
 files?

i ask because i keep many of my dotfiles in version control, so i can keep
them in sync across machines. i'd like to add some of my pidgin config
files, but not others, like blist.xml, and not the logs or plugins or
 buddy icons.
