 It *shouldn't* be related to UPnP unless your router is doing something
 weird once there is a UPnP mapping.  From Pidgin's perspective, it has no
 idea whether there is a UPnP mapping when it is trying to connect to your
 AIM account.

 I'm closing this because the original issue is no longer present.
