#842: segfault in solaris 9

Type: defect | Status: assigned
Priority: minor | Milestone:
Component: pidgin (gtk) | Version: 2.0
Resolution: | Keywords:

Comment (by tmcmahon2):
Its either pidgin or, more likely, a GTK issue. As was relayed to me...
If this can be fixed with 0 at 0.so, as xxx says, then this wont be
reproducible on Linux. Linus & Co., in their wisdom, map the first 1K of
the address space as zeros, so that common SEGVs don't stop applications
running. And this also means ugly bugs like this one go unnoticed until
they hit platforms that put fixing bugs ahead of "user comfort". The 0 at 0
hack allows us to be as broken as Linux in this regard.
