 Skraluk - glad this helped you.  I'd hope helps out centrex, azimuth and
 cejanus as well.

 I did some more testing today, to narrow down which plugin (Buddy Notes or
 Windows Pidgin Options) was causing the problem, or if it required both
 plugins to be active.

 Today I disabled both plugins and once again Pidgin opened and closed
 without trouble.

 This time I enabled only the Buddy Notes plugin, leaving Windows Pidgin
 Options disabled, and Pidgin crashed as detailed before.

 So I can be fairly certain that Buddy Notes (or as I will now christen it,
 "Buggy Notes" :) ) has some problem.
