Comment:

 This is going to be a problem with your browser registration in windows,
 not with pidgin itself.

 Try switching your browser to IE and then back to firefox to cause it to
 re-register.

 Note that you'll have the same issue trying to enter `http://pidgin.im` in
 Start->Run.
