 on' (and not 'signing-on')?

 Adding the check you're suggesting doesn't feel right to me... I mean, if
 we added it there then we should probably add it everywhere in server.c
 that calls a prpl function, right?  It just doesn't feel right to me.

 I wonder, what is the value of gc->state when you call serv_send_im?
