 It actually has been happening to people for several years, I'm pretty
 sure it isn't related to GTK+ at all.  For some people it only happens
 intermittently - I think it is a timing issue (perhaps something else
 changed during your startup that causes pidgin to start slightly sooner or
 later, or something of that nature).
