Comment:

 I did not miss anything. Opening an XMPP is core function for Pidgin as
 opening an URL with a web browser. What you say is like: Why should a
 browser be able to open an URL? Pidgin already has a lot of plugins of
 different quality and unclear meaning. To open a simple URL via a plugin
 looks rather weird to me. Also the answer to a problem is not that the
 reporter should write a plugin but to answer the question of how the user
 is supposed to open an URL he has in his clipboard. As I pointed out that
 is not possible right now. So in future I will have to make a webn page
 for every URL? I think I then rather look for a client who actually has
 this core funcktionality.
