 My .gaim dir was a symlink to a dir on aonther device.. starting pidgin
 resulted in a generic 'error migrating .gaim to .purple' message.. when i
 started from the cmd line with -d, a more useful message was reported:

 >> core: Error renaming /home/rks/.gaim/a-01start to
 /home/rks/.purple/a-01start:

 after creating a symlink to a .purple dir on the same device, pidgin
 started and attempted migrate..

 This is pidgin-2.0.2-3.fc7
