 I've just about had it with Gaim, Pidgin....whatever. I find more and more
 reasons not to use it and the smiley icons -- ctrl 1-8 are important to
 me.... I opened a problem ticket over a year ago about this and still it
 has not been addressed.  This thread confirms what many are finding --
 slow development, lack of comparable functionality against native IM
 clients, etc...  The concept is a great one and having used Gaim since 1.0
 I have been a big fan and supported it in my company and in my personal
 life.  Unfortunately, the native IM clients are getting much better at
 providing functionality in a more timely fashion and are defining where
 the market is going.  Pidgin is in catch up mode and seems to have quite a
 way to go.  I mean, similar functionality as AOL or Yahoo is a jacks or
 better given, however at this time, it seems that is not the case with
 what Pidgin provides.
