Comment:

 You can use animated gifs for the protocols that support them (xmpp, aim,
 icq, silc, yahoo).

 The problem is that if the image needs to be scaled to be sent, it will be
 converted to a png because gtk+ doesn't include a gif writer (for legal
 reasons).  There isn't anything we can do about this.
