Comment:

 This is working as intended.

 The "enabled" checkbox really indicates whether or not we will try to
 apply the status.

 In this case, you're disconnected, but Pidgin will try to reconnect you.

 Accounts are only disabled when the event causing disconnection is
 something that we recognize as non-recoverable (e.g. a password error or
 having connected at another location).  In this case, there is nothing
 that Pidgin can know about the error that would indicate that you can't
 reconnect immediately.
