 I am also experiencing this problem. After the first time returning from
 idle (and becoming unidle), idle will never be set again, no matter how
 long I am actually idle for. Highly annoying bug!

 This issue is still present in Pidgin 2.1.0 (WinXP SP2 and idle time
 reporting from last sent message).
