 Hi, I'm the person who told rageboy about this.  It's happening on my
 computer.

 And I think there's red on my face - I keep "show buddy details" unchecked
 in the Buddies menu.  I didn't realize that this would hide the status
 display in the Infopane.  Enabling that option caused the Infopane to
 function correctly.

 Arguably, however, the Infopane should be showing status whether or not
 "Show Buddy Details" has been checked ...
