 I've problems using unicode away message which are written under name of
 buddies.
 I've attached a screenshot of my pidgin, logged into a '''gmail account
 and yahoo account.'''
 Gmail account shows the away message correctly but yahoo didn't recognized
 the UTF8 packet.
 I tested gaim for normal chat messages and it works good. I found that
 there is a flag in yahoo
 protocol which says that '''"Hey this packet should be handled in a
 unicode way"'''
 Actually my yahoo robot inserts messages using this flag and yahoo
 messenger for windows
 handles it correctly.
 But gaim says '''"Unknown status key 97"'''
 Please note that if i don't insert that key, yahoo messenger fails to
 display it too !
