 hazmat: I think there was a short period of time where that was the case,
 but it was felt that something else was needed to distinguish the icon as
 an im program.

 If a change is necessary, maybe replace the chat bubble in all of the
 icons with a small version of the pidgin mascot (like the favicon on this
 website). The new message icon could then have the chat bubble in the
 lower right, with the blinking version changing it from white to purple.
