 Is this related to #617 ?  The symptom is similar (deleted contacts and
 many popup messages) although the error message appears quite different.
 Also, shouldn't this be rated as a 'major' defect because it is a dataloss
 type bug?  (I believe the Mozilla projects put dataloss bugs high on the
 list.)
