 As I said, the Yahoo! problem is covered in bug #496 (meaning it IS a
 problem with Pidgin, and there's probably nothing you can do about it
 short of changing the code).  I don't know if we'll ever have support for
 proxying Yahoo! connections on a port other than 5050--I can't predict the
 future.
