 the GTK that is packaged with pidgin does not support 256 colors (which
 unfortunately is all that is provided with RDP on windows 2003 terminal
 server).

 However if I perform this sequence of events.

  1. install pidgin (which install gtk 2.10)
  1. uninstall GTK 2.10
  1. install gaim 1.5 (which install gtk 2.6.9)
  1. uninstall gaim 1.5

 Pidgin works correctly on that system using GTK 2.6.9

 My request:
 Package a standalone GTK 2.6.9 for users NEEDING to run pidgin on windows
 w/ an 8bit display.
