 I am also running SuSE 10.2, and I am experiencing the same problem. I
 compiled the program myself, though. I 'make install'ed it but it won't
 run. The '-d' switch doesn't do anything either. The strange thing is that
 when I just 'make'd it, a shell script was also made. If I ran the script,
 Pidgin started, but if I just ran the executable, it didn't.
