 I have exactly the same problem!
 I am using a animated ICQ6 Smiley package.
 I also use Pidgin just for ICQ.
 Running with Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty Kernel 2.6.20-16-generic, GTK 1.2.10-18
 and following Plugins:

 -Libnotify popups[[BR]]

 -Message Timestamp formats.[[BR]]

 -History[[BR]]

 -New line
