Comment:

 GTK+ does not use the Windows input method stuff.  There is nothing we can
 do about this.  As elb pointed out, you can use Ctrl-Shift-u-nnnn to enter
 a unicode character using its unicode value (this is '''''NOT''''' the
 same number Windows uses with its alt+nnnn method).
