I've researched and tried everything I can think of. I've spoken with a
few people to no avail, while they aren't experts I thought they could
 help.

My previous installation worked fine, 2.0.1, my GTK+ theme selector
worked, but I do seem to remember there being an option to change the
theme in the plugins...but can't find one now, it only changes a few
 things, cursor color, etc...

HOW do I install a skin? I think I can just download a theme from a site
 like art.gnome.org as long as it's GTK+ compatible...right?

I don't mean to sound like a complete idiot, but I'm really not that
experienced when it comes to manipulating programs, especially since I've
only been running Pidgin for two months or so.

I'm running XP Media Center 2005, if that helps. Pidgin is located in
under "Program Files" on my C drive, under the folder; Pidgin.
