 Hi,

 conversation.c:1563: cbuddy = purple_conv_chat_cb_new(user, alias, flag);

 The buddy field is not set within the function purple_conv_chat_cb_new and
 remains unset when the callback chat_add_users is invoked.

 I have not looked through the chat_rename_users function, but I suspect
 it's the same.
