 I was having a similar problem - MSN logging in fine, but CPU usage
 hitting 100% whenever I tried to Add/Edit an account.

 The problem persisted after an upgrade to Pidgin but went away once I
 renamed my prefs.xml file. I have attached the problematic file in case
 it'll help.
