 Okay.. the problem is the buddynote plugin.

 without these two lines in prefs.xml, it works fine again:
 -                               <item
 value='C:\Programme\Pidgin\plugins\gtkbuddynote.dll'/>
 -                               <item
 value='C:\Programme\Pidgin\plugins\buddynote.dll'/>


 strange... I didn't used this feature ever - but it also didn't caused
 pidgin to crash
