 This is also an issue when behind Symantec's IM Manager, it works
 similarly to IM Aware.
 both MSN messenger and Trillian are able to connect, but not Pidgin.

 Symantec lists which protocol versions they support here:
 http://entsupport.symantec.com/docs/n2006080415404048

 by looking at wireshark trace Pidgin seems to be identifying itself as
 ver. 6.0.0602 which seems to be in the supported list.

 I'm on Windows XP(SP2), Pidgin 2.0.2
