 I get a similar issue with Windows - as soon as I get the AIM message
 saying I'm signed in from multiple locations, I get the "Pidgin has
 encountered an error and needs to close" message. I usually sign into AIM
 via SMS (text-messaging) when I'm not on the computer, and was unable to
 use Pidgin until I signed off AIM via SMS.
