Comment:

 It's caused by opening the preferences window.

 Previously, we would load multiple instances of each icon, and be free to
 do whatever we want with it. Now, they're all singleton stock items, so if
 gtkprefs overlays something (or rather, gtkutils), it affects all of them.

 I'll fix.
