 The new icon can no longer be set to flash when an unread message is
 displayed.  Previously the icon flashed making it easy to tell when
 someone is waiting fir your IM response.

 The elimination of the flashing + the choice of an envelope are a poor
 graphical representation for IM.  (1) an envelope tray icon is used by
 most mail clients like Outlook so two is confusing, (2) an envelope is a
 representation of a static mail message vs. an active IM request, (3) IM
 request want immediate atention and need to be more vocal.  I would prefer
 a more active paradigm that closer matches the urgency of an active IM
 request vs. a passive e-mail.  Perhaps pulse the dot like an answering
 machine?
