 For the buddy icon, we should scale it down if we don't have enough
 vertical room for this. This might have an unpleasant side-effect in that
 the left margin of the entry text will shift.

 The toolbar is harder, but we should be able to replace icons that won't
 fit with an arrow, similar to how gtknotebook does it.
