Comment:

 Saved statuses never show the text entry area, cached statuses might I
 don't recall, the global statuses (the top section) give you the text area
 but if you don't enter anything it goes away if you then want to enter
 something just reselect the global status again and it will come back.
 This was done to minimize the space taken and to provide only the useful
 information. Does this explanation make things clear? Is there some reason
 you want something else?
