 I think it'd be cool if you could, while using side tabs, be able to set a
 maximum width for the tabs, so that if you have a bunch of people aliased
 to short names, if someone with a long name comes along and IMs you, it
 doesn't stretch out all of the tabs and make everything look a little
 funny.  Also, tab expansion sometimes causes gaim to freeze (but not
 crash) so this would be eliminated if the new tabs couldn't expand the
 current ones.
