Comment (by stupac2):
I have yet more information to add. I've been doing some experimenting,
and I'm now almost certain that Pidgin (at least on Windows and through
AIM) can't tell the difference between size 12 and size 10 font. I sent a
message to someone from my old AIM client and then from Pidgin, and had
them sent both messages back to. The old AIM client showed them as being
different sizes (with Pidgin's appearing as 12 and old client's as 10),
but Pidgin displayed them as the same size.
When I notched Pidgin's font size down one and repeated this, it was much
smaller (~7.5 or 8), and was barely readable.
The difference between 10 and 12 is pretty minor, but I think Pidgin
should be able to tell the difference (or display the difference). I'd
really like to have the ability to control the font point size directly
(the actual outgoing size, not just what it displays), and as far as I can
tell that's not currently possible (I'm new to this whole GTK thing, so I
could absolutely be wrong about this, but it seems like that only affects
how things look on my screen, I'm concerned about how they look on the
screen of the guy I'm talking to).
I know you guys are probably really busy and I think you've done a great
job with this, but if I could get a status update on this (admittedly
minor) problem that'd be great.
(Oh another minor suggestion that I've seen elsewhere: direct control over
the icon set would be nice. I like "extended-away" more than "away", and
it would be nice if I didn't have to change it after every release).
Thanks
