 You were right, this does seem to be a gstreamer bug. Just now, i used a
 command "aplay %s" instead of gstreamer and it no longer crashed. I can
 reproduce the bug by clicking on the Test button which is in Sounds dialog
 of Preferences of pidgin when Sound method is selected as automatic. When
 i used a separate command "aplay %s" , its a good girl. No troubles. So
 gstreamer mite be the one responsible for this crash. Hope they fix it
 soon.
