 I would like some way to suppress log-in and log-out sounds for a subset
 of my buddies.

 I currently have multiple groups of buddies, for example, "Buddies" which
 I keep expanded so I can see people in it, and "Other" where I park
 contact information for people I don't regularly talk to.  (I keep that
 group collapsed so it doesn't clutter my buddy list.)  Log-in and Log-out
 sounds have become useless to me because they are very freqeuently
 generated for people in the latter group.

 I envision a few ways to address my problem:

 (1) [easiest] Global option to not play buddy-list sounds for buddies in a
 collapsed group.

 (2) [harder] Option to not play sounds for select groups. This would
 require per-group preferences.

 (3) [hardest] Custom sound sets for each group. This would also allow me
 to use distinctive sounds for my co-workers vs. school friends.  Kind of
 like pounce sounds, but for groups.

 (4) [Hard on users; no-op for developers] I disable global sounds and set
 up pounce sounds for every single buddy in my Buddies group.  This would
 be a pain to set up; I have ~50 buddies in that group, and there is no way
 to set up pounces for sets of buddies at once.

 I appologize for not having the time to make my own patch.  I hope this
 feature request is received well.
