I did read ticket 414, I didn't read the mailing list thread because I
couldn't find a worling link to the list archive (http://pidgin.im/cgi-
 bin/mailman/listinfo is 404).

I'd like to have the protocol specific icons in the buddy list because I
have some buddies who are online in more then one account all the time. I
know at which time of the day which account to use so they get the message
 in a timely fashion.
In the buddy list I can hover the mouse over a contact to get the details
including the protocol, so I can live without the protocol being displayed
in the buddy list, I would prefer to "just see" it nevertheless.

I'd like to have the protocol specific icons in the conversation window
for the same reason: When I come back and find some conversations open, I
may want to answer via another account of that contact. If I want to do
this I can use the "Send To" menu, but to check whether I want to use
another account, I have to use the "Send To" menu, too. Having the
protocol visible on top of the tab would be very useful.

I could change the different contacts to include the protocol in the local
alias but would prefer icons instead.
