 I am not sure your reasoning for storing logs based on each separate IM
 conversation. I know that I open and close IMs all the time. I don't want
 millions of log files.

 I believe that storing logs should use the format that everyone else uses;
 Which is storing logs by their day, not by each IM.

 It will a lot easier to find things in conversations because normally when
 you use a log your looking up 2 things: what someone just said (History
 plugin takes care of that) or what they said 2-3 days ago. When there are
 50-300 IMs a day from a person, it makes searching for something on a
 specific day really complicated.

 The best way if you still need IM sessions would be to combine both. Have
 it so the log viewer organizes each IM session in its own date folder. By
 default the log will view the compilation of all IM sessions for that day,
 but a tree can drop down to allow viewing each individual IM session if
 needed (Don't know why)
